Over/under assists projections for every NBA player, every game day (top 5 free) — XGBoost regression, graded the next morning (56.8% 2025-26 season at the play tier)
Real-time totals and spread projections updated every 60 seconds during games
Our assists projections are powered by an XGBoost gradient-boosted regression model trained on three full seasons of NBA player data. The model ingests features including rolling assist averages, usage rate, pace, matchup quality, rest days, home/away splits, and opponent defensive metrics. By combining a player's recent playmaking profile with the tendencies of the defense they face, the model produces a continuous assist projection for each game.
Once the model outputs a projected assist count, we compute over/under probabilities at the sportsbook line. This statistical approach produces calibrated probabilities rather than simple point estimates, so you can see not just the direction but the strength of the edge.
We mark a projection as a "Play" when the model assigns at least 65% probability to one side of the line. The expanded card view shows last 10 game logs; members also get the alt-line ladder to find the best entry point on your book.
Assists are one of the most consistent NBA prop markets. Unlike points (which fluctuate with shot selection and game flow) or rebounds (which depend heavily on missed shots), assists are driven by a player's role in the offense. Primary ball handlers and elite passers generate assists at stable rates game over game, which makes the market more predictable.
Sportsbooks price assists lines based on season averages, but our model captures recent form, opponent assist rate allowed, pace of play, and lineup context. When a pass-first point guard faces a defense that funnels plays through the perimeter, the model identifies the mismatch before the line moves.
Alt lines create additional value. A player projected for 8.2 assists with a line at 6.5 may show 85%+ over probability at the alt line — the alt-line ladder that shows it is for members.
Each card shows the player's primary line, model probability, and direction (OVER or UNDER). The probability bar visualizes the split — a wide green bar means the model is confident in the over, while a wide red bar favors the under.
The "vs line" metric compares the player's recent average to the sportsbook line. A positive number means the player has been exceeding the line recently, adding confidence to an OVER call. Click "Details" to see the last 10 game sparkline (alt lines are for members).
